Man to Get 'Hard 50' for Murder of Pregnant Wife

Jason Cott faces a sentence of life without parole for 50 years after pleading guilty to murdering his pregnant wife and their unborn child. Cott agreed to the sentence as part of his plea to two counts of first-degree murder, according to court records. As part of the plea, prosecutors dropped a capital murder charge that could have allowed the death penalty. A passing motorist found the body of Angela Cott, 29, under a tree along U.S. 69 in Miami County. Investigators say she was killed at a motel in Lenexa, where the Cotts and a friend had been living.
