Martha Mantanona of Waukesha is facing two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing justice for falsely claiming she had been raped Sept. 19 on the Bug Line Trail in Sussex.
"Her original credibility was very high," Detective Lt. Charles Wood of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department explained in a telephone interview Oct. 7, but "it gradually chipped away over time" as deputies interviewed Mantanona's acquaintances.
