FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Lionel Tate, the teen who killed a 6-year-old playmate at age 12 and became the youngest defendant in the nation to be locked away for life, plans to enjoy his birthday this week like any other 17-year-old.
After an appeals court threw out his first-degree murder conviction last month, Tate struck a plea bargain that allowed him to walk out of prison Monday.
