BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Two mothers are charged with child neglect for leaving their children alone.
Police said one child was left in an idling vehicle at a shopping mall and the other was left alone at home while the mother went to a bar.
At the mall on Friday in New Port Richey, authorities met Dahlia Brown Almarales, who was toting her 2-year-old daughter and an armload of shopping bags as she returned to the Burdines parking lot. Emergency workers had broken a window to retrieve her boy from her car.
The same night, authorities said Katherine Cobleigh left her 2-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son alone, sleeping at their home west of nearby West Palm Beach for at least 30 minutes. Authorities said Cobleigh went to a bar.
